Founded in 1889 as a retailer of health science books, Matthews understands the needs of a bookstore. Today, Matthews supplies bookstores across the nation with textbooks, reference titles, multimedia products, and medical supplies and instruments.
Matthews maintains an inventory of medicine, nursing, allied health, veterinary, dental, and bioscience titles from over 350 publishers. We have more than 100,000 titles in our database and our Missouri distribution facility houses the largest selection of health science information under one roof. With two distribution facilities in New Jersey and in St. Louis, we proudly boast a 99.5+% error-free accuracy rate in fulfillment.

Online Account Access
Account Setup
If you do not already have an account with Matthews Book Company you may submit an online New Account Application; print, complete, and fax a new account application (PDF) to us at 1-800-421-8816; or call 1-800-MED-BOOK.
Account Access
You can take full advantage of all of the features of our website, if you register your account and sign in when using the site. You will have access to account information such as purchase history, invoices, backorder status, shipment tracking information, and you will see your discounted price for all titles. You will be able to utilize time saving features such as multiple shopping carts, a wish-list feature called My Bookshelf, fast order entry functions, review and edit your Approval Plan, and more.

Standing Order Program
Our Standing Order Program keeps your collection up to-date with the new editions, annuals and series that you specify. We also notify you of delays in publications, ceased titles, and changes in publisher or publication schedules.
Customization of standing orders such as shipping odd/even editions or every other year is available. The first volume of a new series can be sent on approval. For your convenience, standing orders are shipped and invoiced separately from other orders.
To make sure your standing order is continuing to serve your needs; Matthews will provide reports for review on a monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and/or yearly basis.

Inventory Manangement Services
From booklists to pricing labels, Standing Orders to Agency Plans... Matthews puts a variety of powerful tools at your fingertips.
- Labels
Bar-coded pricing labels can be sent with each book, complete with all relevant book information and reflecting your store's pricing scheme.
- Booklists
Matthews assists you in your product selection and inventory management with basic stock recommendations and bestseller reports. We also provide regular forthcoming information, featuring hot titles, new editions, new publishers, publisher information, and specials.
- Standing Order Program
Matthews' Standing Order Program is an easy, effective way for you to maintain a strong reference section, tailored to your specific marketplace. Our product specialist will create a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly suggested order of new titles and new editions based on your choice of subject categories and publishers, your sales history, and our in-depth analysis of your market. You always retain control over the final ordering decision, and your standing order is cross-checked against your regular orders to avoid duplication.
- Agency Plans
Matthews fully supports most publisher agency plans, including Academic Press, Blackwell Science, F.A. Davis, Jones and Bartlett, Lippincott Williams & Wilkins. - Returns
Matthews provides timely notification of recalls, including a copy of your store's purchase history of recalled books. New editions of top-selling titles are highlighted. 100% return privileges are granted for books in their current edition and in resalable condition. Books returned with Matthews labels require no further invoice information for credit to be issued. (Publisher return policies on selected titles may create an exception.)
